Namir El Akabi is Amwaj International's chairman and founder. He's directed and oversaw $3 billion in new real estate developments in Iraq over the past 25 years. As Chairman, he oversees the company's strategic direction, overall management, new development opportunities, acquisitions, and financing across all business platforms. Amwaj International developed over $3 billion in mixed-use, residential, retail, and office properties in high-barrier-to-entry markets. Both the luxury complex known as Iraq Gate Complex and the affordable Iraqi housing known as Al Kadhimiya New City were constructed by Amwaj International to assist Iraqis of all economic statuses in acquiring a home of their own and living comfortably. Mr. El Akabi has always sought ways to give back to society through his Foundation, Namir & Joana Foundation. His philanthropic efforts focus on education, arts, racial equality, healthcare, and sustainable cities. Mr. El Akabi is a trustee of the Namir & Joana Foundation and the Iraq Resources Institute (IRI), where he founded the IRI for Sustainable Cities to integrate urban planning, sustainable transport, energy and climate change, water resources, and governance. Using his platform, he has harnessed the unifying power of Iraqi Para-athletics to advance race relations across the country through the Namir El Akabi Initiative in Para-athletics Sports for Equality. He's the largest single donor for para-athletic facilities, scholarships, career development programmes, faculty recruitment, and Baghdad-Iraq. Mr. Namir has been honoured for his business, civic, and philanthropic work. He was awarded Arabian Business Power 500, and received the Middle East Forbes Achievement Award.-Mr. Namir studied civil engineering at Queen Mary, London.
